Welcome to theBusinessDesigners

Welcome to theBusinessDesigners!  I am very excited to announce the official public launch of our boutique consulting firm, and I’m thrilled you’ve found us.

The first question we typically get at theBusinessDesigners is “what is business design?”  Business design is a relatively new discipline.  In fact, as I was looking for an accepted definition online I discovered that http://wikipedia doesn’t even have an entry.  Seriously, they know everything!  Shocking right?

Here at theBusinessDesigners we believe that design is the process by which people create a feeling, experience, action or result.

Design is most often associated with tangible mediums like clothing, cars, physical and virtual spaces.  Design includes making something beautiful, or simple, or thought provoking.  But it’s more than just making something visual appealing.  It’s about bringing together the form, function, and intent.  Steve Jobs had this to say about design:

“Most people make the mistake of thinking design is what it looks like. People think it’s this veneer – that the designers are handed this box and told, “Make it look good!” That’s not what we think design is. It’s not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

Steve Jobs

There is no right way or wrong way in design.  Instead there is what’s workable, what achieves the desired outcome, what’s efficient, and what connects with people.  It’s why there is no end to brands of cars we can buy, or the styles of clothing we can wear.  Good thing, otherwise we would all be wearing the same pants and driving in our boxy people movers.

theBusinessDesigners takes design principles and applies them to the mechanics of companies.  We help you create compelling products, develop processes that surprise and delight customers, and create employees who are brand ambassadors.  Obviously, companies have been doing these things for as long as there has been currency.  What’s new is the way theBusinessDesigners consider all elements of an organization to ensure continuity of thought through all spaces.  If you own a business, you know there are many moving parts required to serve your customers.   If you aren’t getting the results you want in all areas, it’s likely that there is an incongruity somewhere under the hood.  We can help you troubleshoot what is wrong, or missing, and develop a solution.

I could go on all day, but a good designer also knows when to stop. 😊  If you’d like to chat about business design, or if you’d like to see how working with theBusinessDesigners could transform your business, contact us (link to contact us page.)

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned to this space for all things business design.
